” …absolutely stunning! … Everything was perfect and we had such a great time. Our guests are still talking about our wedding and how beautiful Thistlewood is… Tricia and Leslie were great. They made sure our day was perfect. We will never forget what an amazing day we had!” R.E.
People often ask me what brought us to build Thistlewood Manor. This bride tells you why! We simply love making people happy with great food and hospitality! While I have been planning and dreaming of something like this for many years, God was working in various ways preparing us for the right time. And then, He made everything come together to create this incredible place. Watching the gardens grow almost daily is a constant reminder of His blessings.
Our continued desire, as we grow, is to share our hospitality and help make people feel special in what is truly a beautiful space.
Recently I’ve been reading some disturbing news*: fewer and fewer people are getting married, and even fewer are having children. It is very sad that so many are missing out on the joys of marriage and family, and, further, a society simply cannot continue to be successful without the backbone of families.
While there are many reasons people these days are not choosing marriage, I believe one must be the high cost of a wedding. Seriously, not that many of us can actually afford that “average $30,000 wedding.” Of course, here at Thistlewood Manor we love weddings and seeing happy couples come together in love, so it simply breaks my heart when a couple tells us they cannot afford us, even though they may love us.
We believe a wedding is a wonderful event created by God,
…as a man shall leave his father and his mother, and be joined to this wife; and they shall become one flesh. — Genesis 2:24
which involves not only a special couple, but also the families and friends as they come alongside to support them in their new venture. Jesus even performed His first miracle at a wedding – as I like to think, “to keep the celebration going!” And I have noticed that many couples who had a JP wedding are now wanting to “renew their vows” because they feel they missed out on this wonderful Celebration. On this memorable day of two becoming one, new families and friendships are being created. It truly should be a special celebration!
So, In Honor of Marriage, and the fact that we love what we do, we have been diligently working to find ways to help every couple make this wonderful day happen, no matter their budget! Now entering our 4th year of “open for business,” we have done some price restructuring and creating “plans” for every bride. Please visit our Rates and Catering pages for more details.
We are so very grateful to the many brides, grooms and their families who have trusted us and allowed us to be part of their lives for the many months it generally takes to plan a wedding. Their high praises are very humbling and very special to us. It has truly been an honor, and we are excited to continue this journey with you.
“Thistlewood Manor and Gardens provided us a venue for a very memorable wedding day. This venue seemed like it was hand-picked for us. Tricia and Leslie are wonderful to work with and they are both very accommodating and helpful with idea and suggestions to match our heart’s desire and preference. I would recommend Thistlewood for anyone seeking to have a romantic, classy and elegant wedding venue.” Eno, WeddingWire 2017
Of course, we are still growing, always planting something new, dreaming of some new project or better way to serve our brides and their guests. So keep watching; the best is yet to come.
Please let my family welcome you to Thistlewood Manor. Our baby daughter was the first to marry here, so here you see most of our children and grandchildren. Please come for a visit soon!
